Are you happy with your autoresponder?

22 Apr

Up until last week my answer to that question was NO! Like most internet marketers I had an account with one of the industry leading autoresponder services. I won’t give you the name here, but most of you will know what it is.

In the past 6 months I’ve had nothing but trouble importing new leads to my email lists.
On a number of occasions my imports were being rejected. Does this message sound familiar –

Your leads were not added.

Reason: It appears that the addresses contained pose a significant risk of bounced messages and multiple spam complaints. In cases where the addresses are of a poor quality, ISPs can take steps to limit your ability to send – even to those that truly want your information. This would haven an effect on not only your account, but all accounts in the system and for this reason, we have rejected this import.

It didn’t seem to matter the source of the leads, some were direct buyers of my products, others were leads from advertising campaigns where they opted in to receive information from me. These were real email addresses from real people that wanted the information I was sharing.

After submitting support requests and getting nowhere I gave up and started looking for another provider.

I naturally switched to the other leading autoresponder service and imported my list…..

We regret to inform you that we will not be able to import this contacts list.
We cannot ignore the fact that there are too many toxic addresses on the list.

What!….Toxic addresses… really?

Legitimate paying customers and subscribers that opted in…. rubbish. What an insult!

So my search for a better autoresponder service continued.
This is what I am getting now –

  • Up to 10,000 Total Subscribers
  • Ability to Send 15 Emails per Second
  • 2 Email Delivery Servers
  • Send up to 10,000 Emails Per Day
  • Send up to 100,000 Emails Per Month

And the price….. $19 per month!!!

For only a few extra dollars per month I can increase subscribers from 10,000 to 50,000.

I’m now using EasySendy PRO with SparkPost.

EasySendy PRO is the autoresponder service and it has all the features of the leading autoreponders and SparkPost is the email delivery service, which integrates with EasySendy PRO.

My experience so far has been nothing short of fantastic.
My lists are imported and I’m back in business.

Early results are good, open rates are comparable to the leading autoresponders and I have much better control over my leads and my lists.

The only downside so far is that it does take a little longer to get the account setup, 2-3 hours, but once that’s done it is just as easy as the leading autoresponders, maybe easier.

I am currently in the process of writing a migration guide to help other people experiencing the same issue to make the switch. Contact me either through the blog or Facebook if you want me to send you a copy of the guide.

The next step I’ll try now is to see if switching to other delivery services, such as SendGrid, improves delivery and open rates. I’ll keep you posted. 🙂
